Rosewood is controlled by the Caroline Hunt trust, benefiting members of the Hunt family of Texas. First Executive is a Los Angeles-based life insurance comapny. Rosewood is seeking to buy the 20 percent of First Executive that is held by I.C.H. Corporation. The partnership has asked First Executive to waive certain provisions of an agreement between it and I.C.H. to allow the purchase. First Executive's shares jumped by $1.375 today, to $12.625, in over-the-counter trading."
